THE HUNGER GAMES SERIES BY SUZANNE COLLINS 20/6/22

I think I read this trilogy many years ago but I didn’t remember enough of the details so thought I’d reread them. They did not disappoint.

I think the second book “Catching Fire” was my favourite of the three, maybe because you’re familiar with the characters and know their mannerism’s. The third book is a lot more complicated than the first two but just as enjoyable and it’s a good ending to the series.

I now need to watch all of the films (and read the latest edition to the series, “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” which is a prequel!) as I would love to compare them.

KAREN M. MCMANUS COLLECTION 29/12/22 Over the last month I read 5 books by Karen M McManus (including the sequel to a book I read in 2021) so I thought I would just do one big review. It may go without saying here, but I think I may have a new favourite author! I read "One Of Us Is Next", "Two Can Keep A Secret", "The Cousins", "You'll Be The Death Of Me" and "Nothing More To Tell". They were all very different but Karen's vivid story telling is consistent throughout. I loved "One Of Us Is Next" as it brought back characters from the first book and introduced new ones; I liked the familiarity. "Two Can Keep A Secret" may have been my favourite of the 5 I read. The Virals Series by Kathy Reichs

THE VIRALS SERIES BY KATHY REICHS 1/4/22 Hello to you all, It’s been 3 months since I posted on here as life has gotten in the way a little. That and the fact that I was reading a 6-book series so that took some time. The Virals series is by Kathy Reichs, notorious for her “Bones” series. These are like the teenage version of those; her character “Temperance Brennan” features in this series as her grandniece “Tory Brennan” is the main character here. The stories are truly wonderful, gripping from start to finish, throwing curveball after curveball at you to always throw you off the scent of who the bad guys are. I’m sad I have no finished the 5 part series (the 6th book being a collection of short stories that slot in between a few of the main 5). However, it has definitely urged me to delve into the world of “Bones” so if you see me reading that 24-part series later in the year, you know why!  ME- ELTON JOHN 03/02/20 I've never really been a fan of Elton John. That's not to say I don't like him; there's a couple of his songs I love, I've always found his dress sense very eccentric and I knew he was an advocate for the LGBT and for AIDS. But I didn't know quite the extent of his charity work or how his life began as a session musician and all of that. I have seen "Rocketman" but there's nothing quite like reading it straight from the person telling the story. If you enjoyed that film, you definitely have to read this autobiography. When he was Reg Dwight, he would collect records but he also would write out charts of the current singles that were out and put them in order and stuff and that sounds like something I would do if I am obsessed with something.
